As a locum tenens physician, you’re constantly working hard to help patients maintain good health – but what about yours? While traveling and working as a locum tenens, it’s crucial that you’re paying close attention to how you’re treating your body as well as your mind. Don’t neglect your own health! Here are some ways you can maintain your health while working as a locum tenens.
Stick to an Exercise Routine
While on the road, you should find a workout routine that you can do while you’re in a hotel room or a small gym. Maintain not only your physique, but also your heart and lungs healthy while traveling by engaging in a regular exercise routine.
Get Adequate Sleep
While you may be struggling with late nights and early mornings, getting good sleep will keep you and your brain functioning properly. Not to mention, traveling for locum tenens can take a toll on not only your body, but your mind as well. Get at least 6 hours of sleep every night.
Eat a Balanced Diet
To ensure that you’re getting the proper nutrients your body needs to maintain a healthy lifestyle while on the road, make sure you’re eating at least three balanced meals every day. Also, make sure to drink water! Stay hydrated.
Grocery Shop & Be Mindful When Dining Out
It you’re figuring out how to stay healthy while out on your assignments, you can start with healthy choices when it comes to your food. Stick to the balanced diet we’ve previously discussed.
Wash Your Hands Frequently
Keep germs at bay! Wash your hands as often as you can and make hand sanitizer application a habit.
Focus on Your Mental Health
To keep your mind healthy, try not to stress over things that can go wrong. To reconnect with yourself, try practicing meditation, yoga, and mindfulness to stay centered mentally and emotionally.
